(AP) ? In the end, the gifted trauma surgeon widely beloved as a lifesaver turned to violence, killing himself with a gunshot to the head as he was being sought in the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend.

A two-day nationwide search for Dr. Timothy Jorden ended when police found his body in thick brush a half-mile from his Lake Erie shoreline home. A neighbor had reported hearing a gunshot from the area on Wednesday morning, and police with dogs found the body, dressed in surgical scrubs, on Friday morning.

Authorities had been looking for Jorden since Wednesday morning, when 33-year-old Jacqueline Wisniewski was found shot to death in a stairwell at the Erie County Medical Center, where they both worked. Friends said Wisniewski was afraid of the 49-year-old Jorden and had broken off their relationship some time ago.

Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said Jorden went to the hospital with a shotgun and a .357 Magnum pistol intending to kill Wisniewski because of their breakup. Jorden lured her to the hospital basement, where he shot her five times at point-blank range, Derenda said. He then ran from the hospital and drove home, where surveillance video showed him arriving about 30 minutes later.

Just four minutes later, Jorden is seen leaving the house, down a path to a ravine and disappearing into the woods.

Derenda said Jorden killed himself with one shot to the head from the .357 Magnum and didn't leave a suicide note. He had withdrawn large sums of money recently and had given friends gifts.

As Jorden's tailspin accelerated, friends, neighbors and colleagues painted a picture of a man in decline. Jorden, once 250 pounds and clean-shaven, had lost up to 75 pounds and let his face get scraggly. His neatly manicured lawn got overgrown. He just didn't seem the same; not as "nice" as before, was how neighbor June Dupree put it.

Dupree said she was distraught over what had happened.

"It doesn't make any sense that he did that and that he killed himself," she said. "Oh, my God, it's just terrible. I can't get over it. I'm just about in tears right now."

She said everybody loved Jorden.

"He saved so many lives," she said. "This is what doesn't make sense. There's got to be more to it."

At the medical center, staff members were left to mourn the death of a respected administrative assistant and try to fathom how two lives could end this way.

"We are just starting the healing process and trying to cope with an incomprehensible event," said Jody Lomeo, the hospital's chief executive officer.

SWAT teams had spent hours Wednesday searching Jorden's home without success.

On Thursday, neighbor Tom Wrzosek told police he had heard a gunshot from the steep, thick terrain behind Jorden's house the morning before, about 90 minutes after Wisniewski was gunned down at the hospital.

Some of her friends told local media outlets that Jorden stalked her after she ended the relationship. One of her friends told WIVB-TV that Wisniewski told her the doctor had put a GPS tracking device in her car and once held her captive in her home for a day and a half, wielding a knife.

A woman who answered the phone listed in the name of Wisniewski's parents said the family would not be commenting.

The Buffalo News reported that Jorden joined the National Guard in high school, went into the Army after graduation and served with the Army's special forces, first as a weapons expert, then as a medic. In those roles, he served in the Caribbean, Japan and Korea.

Jorden earned a medical degree from the University at Buffalo and trained at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash. He received his certification from the American Board of Surgery in 2004.

He was honored by various local organizations over the years for his teaching skills and involvement in the Buffalo community.

Dupree said she will try to remember Jorden as a good neighbor and gifted surgeon.

"It's very quiet here today," she said. "It's like everybody is in mourning."

Saudi heir's death opens door to younger voices

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) ? For the second time in less than a year, Saudi Arabia was thrown into the process of naming a new heir to the country's 88-year-old king following the death Saturday of Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdul-Aziz.

That forces a potentially pivotal decision: Whether to bring a younger generation a step closer to ruling one of the West's most critical Middle East allies. King Abdullah has now outlived two designated successors, despite ailments of his own.

It's widely expected that the current succession order will stand and Nayef's brother, Defense Minister Prince Salman ? another elderly and ailing son of the country's founding monarch ? will become the No. 2 to the throne of OPEC's top producer.

But Prince Nayef's death opens the possibility that a member of the so-called "third generation" of the royal clan ? younger and mostly Western educated ? will now move into one of the traditional ruler-in-waiting roles as the country looks ahead to challenges such as the nuclear path of rival Iran and Arab Spring-inspired calls for political and social reforms around the Gulf.

"Saudi Arabia will have to decide if this is the time to set the next generation on the path to rule," said Simon Henderson, a Saudi affairs expert at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

First, however, the Saudi leadership must fall behind the successor for Nayef, the hard-line interior minister who spearheaded Saudi Arabia's fierce crackdown crushing al-Qaida's branch in the country after the 9/11 attacks in the United States. Nayef, who Al-Arabiya reported died in Geneva, was named crown prince in November after his brother Prince Sultan died.

The Allegiance Council, an assembly of sons and grandsons of the first Saudi monarch, King Abdul-Aziz, will choose the next crown prince.

The likely choice is the 76-year-old Salman, who previously served for more than four decades in the influential post of governor of Riyadh, the capital, as it grew from a desert crossroads to the center of political power for the Western-allied Gulf states.

His links to Saudi religious charities brought Salman into controversy as one of the defendants in a lawsuit by insurance companies that accused Saudi Arabia of funneling money to al-Qaida. A U.S. appeals court in New York had ruled in 2008 that the Saudi royal family and other defendants enjoy immunity from such lawsuits.

Nayef was seen as closely in tune with Saudi's ultraconservative Wahhabi religious establishment, which gives legitimacy to the royal family and strongly opposes pressures for change such as allowing women to drive or participate on Saudi's Olympic team. Salman also has little inclination to challenge the authority of the clerics or push hard for reforms, experts say.

He has long been part of the Saudi's international face ? meeting dignitaries as the Riyadh governor and military brass from the West as defense minister, including a high-profile visit to Britain in April. Neither role would be possible without nods of approval from Saudi's religious guardians.

He and Nayef also are part of an influential group known as the "Sudairi seven," sons of the late King Abdul-Aziz and wife Hussa bint Ahmad Sudairi, whose marriage helped cement the king's rule over the patchwork of tribes in Saudi Arabia.

Sami al-Faraj, director of the Kuwait Center for Strategic Studies, said impressions that Salman was less conservative than Nayef were misleading.

"The reality is there is very little difference. Both are conservative and won't rock the boat" he said. "Nayef was just a behind-the-scenes guy and Salman is more public. One was implicit; the other explicit."

The two also share a history of health issues. In 2010, Salman had spine surgery and has suffered from at least one stroke, leaving him with limited movement in his left arm, said Henderson.

Concerns about the wellbeing of the aging Saudi inner circle could encourage consideration of bringing a younger member of the royal network into the succession line, possibly as successor to Nayef as interior minister. Among the possible contenders mentioned include King Abdullah's son Mitab, the head of the National Guard, and Nayef's son Mohammad, a senior official in the interior ministry.

"Nayef's death will certainly be the biggest challenge the ruling clan faced in a few years as many are striving for the throne," said Ali al-Ahmed, a Saudi analyst at the Institute for Gulf Affairs in Washington.

President Barack Obama said Nayef "dedicated himself to the security of Saudi Arabia as well as security throughout the region."

" Under his leadership, the United States and Saudi Arabia developed a strong and effective partnership in the fight against terrorism, one that has saved countless American and Saudi lives," the White House statement added.

Nayef had been out of the country since late May, when he went on a trip that was described as a "personal vacation" that would include medical tests. He traveled abroad frequently in recent years for tests, but authorities never reported on potential ailments.

The royal family, which closely guards information about the health of its members, confirmed the death but gave no details about the cause. It said a funeral would be held Sunday after prayers in Mecca.

Soon after becoming crown prince, Nayef vowed at a conference of clerics that Saudi Arabia would "never sway from and never compromise on" its adherence to the puritanical Wahhabi doctrine. The ideology, he proclaimed "is the source of the kingdom's pride, success and progress."

Nayef had expressed some reservations about some of the reforms by Abdullah, who made incremental steps to bring more democracy to the country and increase women's rights. Nayef said he saw no need for elections in the kingdom or for women to sit on the Shura Council, an unelected advisory body to the king that is the closest thing to a parliament.

In 2009, Nayef promptly shut down a film festival in the Red Sea port city of Jiddah, apparently because of conservatives' worry about the possibility of gender mixing in theaters and a general distaste toward film as immoral.

But his top concern was security in the kingdom and maintaining a fierce bulwark against Shiite powerhouse Iran, according to U.S. Embassy assessments of Nayef.

"A firm authoritarian at heart," was the description of Nayef in a 2009 Embassy report on him, leaked by the whistleblower site WikiLeaks.

Nayef, who was interior minister in charge of internal security forces since 1975, built up his power in the kingdom though his fierce crackdown against al-Qaida after the Sept. 11 attacks and a broader campaign to prevent the growth of Islamic militancy among Saudis.

The 9/11 attacks at first strained ties between the two allies. For months, the kingdom refused to acknowledge any of its citizens were involved in the suicide airline bombings. Nayef finally became the first Saudi official to publicly confirm that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis, in a February 2002 interview with The Associated Press.

Nayef took a leading role in combatting the branch in Yemen as well. In 2009, al-Qaida militants tried to assassinate his son, Prince Muhammad, who is deputy interior minister and the commander of counterterrorism operations. A suicide bomber posing as a repentant militant blew himself up in the same room as the prince but failed to kill him.

Nayef's Interior Ministry allied with clerics in a "rehabilitation" program for detained militants, who went through intensive courses with clerics in "correct" Islam to sway them away from violence. The program brought praise from the United States.

Nayef was survived by several wives and 10 children.

'Coup' claim as Egypt court orders parliament dissolved

Judges appointed by Hosni Mubarak dissolved the Islamist-dominated parliament Thursday and ruled that Mubarak's former prime minister can stand in the presidential runoff this weekend ? setting the stage for the military and remnants of the old regime to stay in power.

The rulings effectively erase the tenuous progress from the past year's troubled transition, leaving Egypt with no parliament and concentrating rule even more firmly in the hands of the military generals who took power after Mubarak's ouster.

The fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood, which stands to lose the most from the rulings, called the moves a coup and vowed to rally the street against the ruling military and former prime minister Ahmed Shafiq, the presidential candidate seen by critics as a favorite of the generals and a symbol of Mubarak's autocratic rule.

As night fell, a crowd of protesters was rapidly growing in Cairo's Tahrir Square, birthplace of the uprising that toppled Mubarak last year.

Senior Brotherhood leader and lawmaker Mohammed el-Beltagy said the rulings amounted to a "full-fledged coup."

"This is the Egypt that Shafiq and the military council want and which I will not accept no matter how dear the price is," he wrote on his Facebook page.

In Egypt's elections, politics is a new family affair

The decisions were a heavy blow to the Brotherhood. In the parliamentary elections late last year ? Egypt's first democratic ones in generations ? the Brotherhood vaulted to become the biggest party in the legislature, with half the seats, alongside more conservative Islamists who took another 20 percent. It is hoping to win the presidency as well with its candidate, Mohammed Morsi, in this weekend's presidential run-off against Shafiq. The rulings now take away their power base in parliament and boost Shafiq.

But the court rulings also derail the broader transition to democracy, said rights lawyer Hossam Bahgat.

"The military placed all powers in its hands. The entire process has been undermined beyond repair," Bahgat said. "They now have the legislative and the executive powers in their hands and there is a big likelihood that the military-backed candidate (Shafiq) is going to win. It is a soft military coup that unfortunately many people will support out of fear of an Islamist takeover of the state."

A day earlier, the military-appointed government gave the military police and intelligence the right to arrest civilians for a range of vague crimes such as disrupting traffic and the economy that would give it a mandate to crack down on protests. Many saw the move as evidence the generals are aiming to hold on to power beyond the July 1 deadline they announced for handing it over to a civilian president.

Throughout the day Thursday, military armored vehicles circulated through the streets of Cairo, playing patriotic songs, as soldiers passed out leaflets urging passers-by to vote in the presidential run-off Saturday and Sunday. The rulings also mean that the next president of Egypt will be sworn before the generals who took over from Mubarak 16 months ago rather than parliament.

PhotoBlog: Egypt court rules Shafik can run in presidential election

After the Supreme Constitutional Court's decision was announced, a visibly energized Shafiq spoke at a rally that had the trappings of a victory celebration. Supporters chanted "We love you, Mr. President," and the 70-year-old Shafiq blew kisses to them. In his address, he lavished praise on the military and said he hoped for a dramatic shakeup in the makeup of the next parliament.

"We want a parliament that realistically represents all segments of the Egyptian people and a civil state whose borders and legitimacy are protected by our valiant armed forces," said Shafiq, a longtime friend of Mubarak and a self-confessed admirer of the ousted leader.

The race for the presidency has already deeply polarized the country. The anti-Shafiq camp views him as an extension of Mubarak's authoritarian regime. The anti-Morsi camp fears he and the Brotherhood will turn Egypt into an Islamic state and curtail freedoms if he wins. Leftist, liberal and secular Egyptians who first launched the pro-democracy uprising against Mubarak bemoaned the choice and some talked of a boycott.

Now they and the Brotherhood were all accusing the military of using the constitutional court as a proxy to change the rules of the game.

In its decisions Thursday, the Supreme Constitutional Court ruled that a third of the legislature was elected illegally. As a result, it says in its explanation of the ruling, "the makeup of the entire chamber is illegal and, consequently, it does not legally stand."

The explanation was carried by Egypt's official news agency and confirmed to The Associated Press by one of the court's judges, Maher Sami Youssef.

The law governing the parliamentary elections was ruled unconstitutional by a lower court because it breached the principle of equality when it allowed party members to contest a third of seats set aside for independents. The remaining two thirds were contested by party slates.

In a separate ruling, the court said Shafiq could stay in the presidential race, rejecting a law passed by parliament last month that barred prominent figures from the old regime from running for office.

Defenders of the law argued that after a revolution aimed at removing Mubarak's rule, parliament had a right to prevent regime members from returning to power. Opponents of the law called it political revenge targeting Shafiq. The court said the law was not based on "objective grounds" and was discriminatory, violating "the principle of equality."

"This historic ruling sends the message that the era of score-settling and tailor-made law is over," Shafiq said at his rally.

Now, elections will have to be organized to choose a new parliament ? and the Brotherhood is in a weaker position than it was during its powerful showing in the first election, held over three months starting last November.

After its election victory, the Brotherhood tried to translate those gains into governing power but was repeatedly stymied by the military's grip.

'We want to live ... like human beings': Egyptians vote in first democratic presidential election

At the same time, there has been widespread public dissatisfaction with the Islamist-led parliament, which many criticized as ineffective. The Brotherhood's popularity has also declined because of moves that critics saw as attempts to monopolize the political scene and advance its own power. It angered liberals, leftists and secular Egyptians when it and other Islamists tried to dominate a parliament-created panel tasked with writing the next constitution. The panel was dissolved by court order, and a new one had yet to be appointed.

The dissolution of parliament now raises the possibility the military council could appoint the panel, a step that would fuel accusations that it is hijacking the process.

The legal adviser of the Freedom and Justice Party, the Brotherhood's political arm, said the court rulings were "political," lamenting the outgoing legislature as the country's "only legitimate and elected body."

"They are hoping to hand it over to Ahmed Shafiq and make him the only legal authority in the absence of parliament. The people will not accept this and we will isolate the toppled regime," Mukhtar el-Ashry said in a posting on the party's website.

A moderate Islamist and a former presidential candidate, Abdel-Moneim Abolfotoh, said the rulings amounted to a "coup" and warned that the youth, pro-democracy groups that engineered the uprising that toppled Mubarak last year would protest the court's rulings.

"Those who believe that the millions of young people will let this pass are fooling themselves," he wrote on his Twitter account.

Reds Come Up Short In 3-2 Loss To Tigers

CINCINNATI -- Coming up even with Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander left the Cincinnati Reds feeling pretty good about themselves ? even though they couldn't close the deal with their bullpen.

The Reds forced the reigning American League MVP and Cy Young Award winner out of the game after six innings before Prince Fielder drove in the tie-breaking run with a two-out single in the eighth to lift the Tigers to a 3-2 victory Saturday.

Cincinnati left six runners on base against Verlander, three in his last inning, which left Reds manager Dusty Baker lamenting the missed opportunities.

"We had him on the ropes a couple of times, but we couldn't come up with the big hit," Baker said.

Brennan Boesch started Detroit's two-out rally against Sean Marshall (1-3) with a double off the wall in center field. After Miguel Cabrera was intentionally walked, Fielder ? who hit a solo home run in the fourth ? softly lined a single to center and Boesch slid across the plate just ahead of Chris Heisey's strong throw.

Brayan Villareal (2-1) pitched a scoreless seventh inning to earn the win before a crowd of 42,443, the largest non-Opening Day, regular-season crowd in the 10-year history of Great American Ball Park.

Joaquin Benoit pitched a perfect eighth and Jose Valverde duplicated the effort in the ninth for his 11th save.

The Tigers took a 2-0 lead on two-out solo home runs to right off Cincinnati starter Bronson Arroyo. Switch-hitting shortstop Ramon Santiago hit his second homer of the season on a 2-1 pitch in the second inning, and Fielder hit his 10th on the first pitch from Arroyo in the fourth.

Santiago's homer, which extended to 55 the number of consecutive games in which at least one home run has been hit at Great American Ball Park, did and didn't surprise Arroyo.

"It was a 2-1 sinker on the outer half," he said. "That happens in this ballpark ? or maybe he's stronger than he looks. That's not an easy lineup to pitch to. They have a lot of pop, and since they're an American League team, you don't know to pitch to them."

The Reds tied it in the fourth on Heisey's leadoff single, Joey Votto's drive to left that Delmon Young misplayed into a double and Todd Frazier's two-out single to right.

"His stuff is really good, but when you go up there, you've got to have confidence that you're going to get the job done," Frazier said about Verlander. "I got a little fired up."

Votto extended his hitting streak to a career-high 15 games (29-for-53, .547), surpassing his 14-game streak in 2009. The streak is the longest by a Red since Brandon Phillips' 15-game streak from May 28 through June 12, 2010.

Neither starter was involved in the decision. Verlander threw 127 pitches, his second-highest total of the season to the 131 he threw on April 16 in a 3-2, complete-game win at Kansas City. He allowed six hits and two runs with three walks and nine strikeouts in six innings. Arroyo went seven innings, giving up five hits and two runs with four strikeouts.

"I'll take a 2-2 tie with Verlander any day," Arroyo said. "Once we tied it up, I figured that was all we'd get, and we were willing to take our chances later in the game."

NOTES: Both teams are 3-2 in interleague play. ... Cincinnati LHP Bill Bray was scheduled to pitch an inning for Single-A Dayton Saturday night and another on Monday during a rehab assignment. Bray has been out since April 24 with a groin injury. ... Detroit activated OF Austin Jackson from the 15-day DL and recalled IF Herman Perez from Single-A Lakeland. The Tigers placed SS Jhonny Peralta on paternity leave and optioned RHP Jose Ortega to Triple-A Toledo. Perez grounded out to third in the eighth inning in his major league debut. ... Reds OF Kristopher Negron drew a seventh-inning walk in his first major league plate appearance.

(AP) ? President Barack Obama and Republican rival Mitt Romney are battling more than just each other in diverse and politically divided Nevada.

The president also is fighting against Nevada's dismal economy while Romney faces a better-organized and better-funded state Democratic Party machine with a victorious track record.

Those factors are leveling the playing field here, and Obama and Romney head into the summer seemingly locked in a close race in a state that both sides expect will be fiercely contested ? and a true toss-up ? throughout the fall.

Both are making Nevada and its six Electoral College votes a priority in their state-by-state strategies as they look to amass the 270 votes needed to win the White House.

Obama was making his second trip to the state in less than a month on Thursday, with a Las Vegas event aimed at wooing young, college-aged voters. Romney was just in the city a week ago for a fundraiser with Donald Trump. So far, at least $5.6 million in TV ads has been spent in the state, with Obama and his Democratic allies spending roughly $1.2 million more than Republican outside groups. Romney, himself, has yet to go on the air.

Nevada's outcome is all but certain to come down to a huge swath of independent and undecided voters here, many of whom say they'll choose the candidate with the right economic prescriptions.

"This state is so troubled, we need someone committed to fixing it, and I don't see that," says Robert Aguirre, an independent voter who said he had backed Republican John McCain and Democrat Bill Clinton. Aguirre said he is confident Obama won't soon return jobs to Nevada, but he isn't convinced Romney is up for the task, either, saying: "I haven't really seen him here, I haven't heard him talk about Nevada."

Lisa Smith, a 23-year-old Democrat, has hesitations about Obama this time around.

"He has done a lot of good ? the health care law, student loans," Smith said. "But we still don't have enough jobs for everyone in Nevada who is hurting,"

Indeed, here, perhaps more than in any other state, the race is shaped by the economy.

The state's 11.7 percent unemployment rate is the highest in the nation, largely because of a tourism industry and service sector that has never rebounded from the Great Recession. And its once booming housing market has become a foreclosure wasteland, with one in every 300 homes receiving a foreclosure filing in April, according to the foreclosure listing firm RealtyTrac.

Those woes have left Obama grasping to hold on to a state he won handily in the 2008 election. So far, he has spent more than $3 million on television advertising here and has deployed a team of volunteers across the state.

Romney has had electoral success in Nevada before, too. He won the state's Republican caucus in February with more than 50 percent of the vote, four years after prevailing here during his first presidential run.

But, in Nevada like elsewhere, Romney has been slow to ramp up his general election campaign and trails the president in fundraising, campaign organization, Hispanic voter outreach and media buys. He also only recently started to hire Nevada field staff and won't open his first northern Nevada campaign offices until later this month.

For all their challenges, Obama and Romney also have opportunities in Nevada with certain demographic groups.

Obama is popular with more progressive voters in laid-back Las Vegas, and his campaign thinks it can ramp up voter turnout among Democratic-leaning Hispanics. They make up 26 percent of Nevada's population and many are immigrants from Mexico. Some have expressed reservations about the Republican Party's anti-immigration rhetoric, and that could hurt Romney.

Among them is Nevada Republican Ann Martinez, who says she likes Romney, but is troubled by what she described as his reluctance to discuss a comprehensive overhaul of U.S. immigration law.

"We have all these people here without papers and what are we going to do with them? You can't pretend they aren't already here, working here," said Martinez, a church secretary.

The core of Romney's support in Nevada likely will be made up of conservative, tea party voters in the state's northern reaches. Tea partyers concerned about Romney's conservative credentials likely will overlook their worries and choose him because of a desire to vote Obama out of office come November.

Romney also can count on strong support from his fellow Mormons. They represent about 9 percent of Nevada's population, and reliably show up to vote, mainly for Republican candidates.

Obama's campaign insists Nevada is leaning in its favor and argues that Romney has economic challenges in the state, too. They note that Romney once said the housing crisis should be allowed to run its course. "Let it hit bottom," he said.

Beyond that, Romney also must figure out how to counter Nevada's proven Democratic get-out-the-vote machine. The state party is so good at identifying its supporters and making sure they head to the polls that Democrats managed to re-elect Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in 2010, despite his widespread unpopularity.

In contrast, Nevada's Republican Party is the picture of disorganization and rivalry.

Ron Paul supporters have succeeded in taking over the organization in recent months, hurting its ability to collect dollars from old-guard campaign donors alarmed at the Nevada GOP's constant turmoil and posing a challenge for Romney.

Still, Nevada Republicans say any challenger to an incumbent president would start off as the underdog.

"Mitt Romney was just selected as the presumptive nominee about a month ago and Obama has been running for re-election for three and a half years," said Darren Littell, a Republic National Committee spokesman who set up camp in Las Vegas this month to help get Romney elected.

While Romney has yet to run any general election ads in Nevada, several outside groups are on the air and providing cover for him.

Nevada is a true swing-voting state. It chose Clinton in 1992 and 1996, before swinging Republican in 2000 and 2004 for George W. Bush. It backed Obama in 2008. And if history is any guide, it could again choose the eventual White House victor, as it has every four years since 1980.

Stimulating Ourselves With Religious Conversations

Religion can be a seriously dubious area. Each day, lots of people explore issues related to religion. You will discover countless elements of religion which appear to confuse individuals. As a result, humans have plenty of concerns, but they ask holding the aspiration of finding information. Typically, people join religion chat forum networks where by there're able to chatter about their concerns and issues regarding religion. Occasionally, all through these chats quarrels can take place as disagreeing beliefs from unique people can clash. Nevertheless it would seem that general, the interaction of communicating to other individuals about religion offers a helpful setting for individuals to conquer their confusions concerning religion.

Folks are fundamentally communicative creatures. Folks like to talk with one another and discuss everything they will about the world with other women and men.

This quality of folks is usually spotted in lots of facets of communal existence and in many cases within the context of religious environments. One particular instance is the chapel setting wherever the minister talks to individuals about their spiritual values. In today's present day era, a brand new form of interaction takes spot internationally every single day. The web now gives huge methods for folks to socialize with each other. Folks are now equipped to talk about religion with one another, among quite a few other things, from the comfort of their very own property. Individuals are simply free to log in to a religion online forum, or virtually any social site, and talk about any religion concepts which are pertinent to them.

An internet religion online forum is actually a spot in which folks can go to impart their concepts and concerns pertaining to religion. Often when folks are confused they could start a thread about the matters with regards to their worry. Other people who read it could then discuss their very own ideas and answer back to the main post. As progressively more men and women study the subject areas and all the responses which have been authored, a serious discussion begins to take place. Disagreements may also take place. And as disagreements are analyzed far more info is added.

It really is quite widespread for non-secular and secular to debate with one another with regards to discussing religion. It is highly not likely that there is any religion debate forum on the web that won't include a disagreement between atheists and Christians. These communities tremendously oppose one another, perhaps more than any other groups on the subject of religion. This can be because their beliefs are polar opposites of each other's. Atheists argue for evolution and also the Darwinian details of evolution. Whereas religion followers observe those views as being very perverse. The central dispute among the two communities being concerning the presence of an ultimate originator.

Religion can be an extraordinarily interesting issue for discussions. Exchanging ideas about spiritual concepts and the problems of religion on the human psychology is usually very useful. Discussion board environments are like data library facilities in which they gather and conserve mass quantities of information about peoples thoughts and opinions. When you have anything you would like to converse about religion, a religion chat forum would be the right location to do so due to the fact you are entering a network which is wanting to consider your feelings. You do not have to try to find a person to discuss with, folks are already provided.

Wealthy Texas woman faces child porn charges

DALLAS (AP) ? A wealthy Texas woman married to an attorney has been charged with collecting and trading child pornography online in what experts say is a rare case of a woman being caught up in such activity.

Erika Susan Perdue has been undergoing addiction treatment since her April arrest on federal charges that she accessed child pornography from the computer in her $1.4 million, 4,000-square-foot home in the well-heeled Dallas enclave of University Park.

FBI agents who raided the home found child pornography on the computer, and Perdue admitted she'd been collecting it for 12 years, according to court records. She told investigators she used file-trading software every day to exchange images while her husband, an attorney who specializes in intellectual property cases, was at work.

"I've seen cases of women collecting or trading child porn, but not very often and not somebody in that socio-economic strata," said Nancy Hagan, the longtime executive director of the Alliance for Children, a Fort Worth child advocacy center.

A four-count indictment claims Perdue, 41, engaged in transporting, shipping, receiving and possessing child pornography. If convicted, she could face maximum prison sentences of 20 years for three of the counts and 10 years for the other.

She isn't accused of creating the images.

The search of Perdue's home was prompted by federal agents who, working undercover, logged into file-sharing programs and obtained 21 downloaded files containing child pornography, according to an FBI affidavit. The agents traced the IP address to Perdue's home, the affidavit states.

George "Buck" Johnson, one of three attorneys representing Perdue in the case, declined to comment.

Perdue and her husband, Mark, have been married since December 2009, records show. Mark Perdue is not named in the criminal complaint.

According to a court filing by the defense team, Perdue has been undergoing unspecified treatment since her arrest at a center outside Dallas. The facility identified in the document specializes in addressing "addictive behaviors and associated conditions," according to its Web site.

The filing says Perdue suffered a "serious psychiatric/medical setback" in early May, about two weeks after she was charged, making her unable to help with her own defense.

"Her counselor (at the center) remains optimistic that her mental state will improve with continued treatment, but not for several months," the document states.

Toby Shook, a Dallas criminal defense attorney who previously served as a state court prosecutor, said he has seen cases where women were involved in the distribution of child pornography, usually under the direction of men. But he said he couldn't recall one in which a woman was interested in trading or purchasing the images.

"It's very rare that women have an interest in sharing files," Shook said. "Almost all of the cases you see, as far as trading files, involve men."

Two Dallas-area women have been sentenced to prison for federal offenses related to child pornography within the past year, but both were involved in creating sexually explicit images, not simply viewing them.

Psychiatrist Fred Berlin, director of the Sexual Behavior Consultation Unit at Johns Hopkins University, said it's unusual for a woman to access images of child pornography but not outside the realm of possibility. Such a woman may have been abused herself as a child, he said.

"It's the exception to the rule, but it's certainly an exception that's not unheard of," Berlin said.

Berlin stressed that viewing or collecting child pornography doesn't mean a person is likely to harm children.

"There are marked differences among people who are accessing these materials," he said, "and one of the things we need to determine is the extent to which they do or do not reflect a danger to the community."

California City May Tax Sugary Drinks Like Cigarettes

If you choose to be fat, if you choose to smoke, if you choose to live an unhealthy lifestyle, you should be the one to pay for your healthcare expenses.

I keep hearing this crap and seeing it modded up as "+5 Informative."

Here's the problem with these arguments: Study: Fat people cheaper to treat [usatoday.com].

This is a problem with the majority of health care expense studies that call for "nanny state" approaches to just about anything. Such studies usually compare annual costs to treat people who have various conditions or behaviors. Rarely do they consider total expenses for the entire lifespans of patients.

Think about it this way: an obese or a smoker or whatever may get sick a little more and thus cost a little more on average for the early part of his/her life. But a lot of these people then have heart attacks or strokes or whatever and die at age 45 or 55 or whatever. Meanwhile, other healthy people continue living to age 85 or 90, and they need health care (including various illnesses, operations, whatever) for an extra 30 or 40 years more. In the end, even many "healthy lifestyle" people will die of cancer or some other costly illness, so they end up costing the system a lot of money in the last couple years of care, just like the obese smoker who ends up with lung cancer 30 years earlier.

But those extra 30 years of healthcare, even for healthy people, will often end up costing more than the obese person who was "nice enough" to die and remove himself from the insurance pool early.

The cost-benefit analysis is a bit controversial, and there are some conflicting studies, but basically when you consider the total cost of healthcare over an entire lifespan, that obese smoker probably costs everyone a little less -- or at least about the same amount.

You can apply this logic to just about any "nanny state" law. Seat belt laws supposedly save us money because people wearing seatbelts end up with fewer major injuries, thereby costing the healthcare system less. But those studies never take into account the fact that people who don't wear seat belts tend to have a much greater fatality rate, and every 18-year-old dumbass who gets himself killed without a seatbelt is someone the healthcare system won't have to treat for another 60 or 70 years.

In the end, most of these things tend to balance out... because people who do stupid things just don't live as long and therefore generally shave decades off of their healthcare costs.

You want to be angry about someone -- be angry with the 100+ year old healthy people who have had minor operations and other problems over the years. They're the ones who collectively are costing you huge amounts of money over their lifespans. Maybe you're in favor of cutting off health insurance for anyone who lives past the average lifespan??

RolePlayGateway?

Many of the world's supernatural creatures have been cowed by humans over the years, forced into hiding (or blue collar and white collared jobs) and unable to truly express what they really are without getting shot by the cops and animal extermination agencies.

You, friend, are getting paid to be an exception.

[I.] Introduction
[II.] Plot explanation
[III.] Applying
[IV.] Final Thoughts

[I.]He Calls.

Somewhere, a phone rang.

Without entirely knowing why, you soon had it in your hand;
Pressed against your ear.
There was silence on the other end outside a faint sizzling.
Then there was a startlingly deep voice
And it asks:

"How much are you worth?"

You entertained the thought of it being God's voice on the other line
Just for just a split second.
Though it seemed to be too long of a wait
For the voice spoke again
Offering you more digits than you could count.

You laugh.
He laughs.
There is an unnerving silence.

He offered more, hitting all the right buttons.
He knew about your problems, offered to lift them.
He knew about things you never realized you needed.
He knew about that.
He tempted, as lazily as you imagined the Devil would.
The Devil, after all, had endless resources.
The Devil did not need to beg.

You have only one concern
Other than the slight fear that he will take your humoring, sarcastic statements seriously.
You pop a hypothetical question,
Say, you do work for him as he wishes...

Like a babbling brook tainted with an oil spill,
His baritone chuckle trickled along the phone line
Riverdanced along the side of your face.
The reply was far too clearly feigned, and the speaker was feigning relief.

"I was expecting a more difficult inquiry. The standard procedure for a dissenter is very simple,"

"I will kill you."

[II.] "So....! Whaaaat the shit just happened, Wudge?"

WASSUUUUUUUP! Yes, Wudge, that is my name. Oh, wait, you wanna know what happened, okay--

Well, somebody just got hired by a disembodied voice over the phone, looks like. Lucky them, huh?

Here's the deal: in exchange for anything you can humanly(/supernaturally) want, you take a job. A simple job. Just do what you're told, and you're good to go. Pay's good, too. Very good. The job itself is "a private business that involves things like bodyguarding and some politics," but there is probably more to it than that. Who cares though? Look at all this moolah! Moolah in addition to information, a prolonged lifespan, love, freedom, oh man--you name it, you got it.

So. Your OC has been bound by a written contract as well as a death threat, because for whatever reason, they decided to be fairly stupid smart agree to this madness without entirely knowing what they're getting into, much like their fairly stupid smart roleplayer.

Sooo. What now? Well, they'll be assigned to a variety of missions, a la Charlie's Angels. Not all missions will seem entirely ethical. But hey, maybe you don't give a damn. (But maybe you do, so good for you!)

You might even someday meet the voice in person if you're well behaved. Or perhaps you're already acquainted with him, however loosely. Your OC may get the feeling that said voice is at someone else's beck and call, but maybe they're just imagining it...

[III.] "Hey, cool, so what do I get to do?"

[III A.] RACES AND SLOTS! Not necessarily to do with gambling.

Now for the more interesting bit. We have slots for you, ladies and gents, and in order to reserve a slot, PM me with what you wanna do! Because I don't want you wasting your time if your idea just won't work somehow--I'll be able to give suggestions and corrections early on rather than later--and it'll keep people from overflowing one particular race, yeah? We don't need ten million werewolf submissions and one lonely representative for everything else, gracious no!

You will play a character fairly experienced in their trade, but if they are "newborns," they will likely have something unique about them that gives them a reason to be on the team.

Without further ado, let's meet our players:

The saddest thing is that we're you... my people are just like you. Only better. We're snappier dressers. We possess the wisdom of the ages. And if we crave blood, well, it is no different than the way you people crave food or affection or sunlight--and besides, it gets us out of the house. Crypt. Coffin. Whatever... We're you, with all your fuck-ups and all the things that make you human--all your fears and loneliness and confusions. [None] of that gets better.

-Neil Gaiman

ANY VAMPIRES PHYSICALLY BELOW FORTY AND 100+ IN AGE SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY REJECTED. That ain't how we roll in Good Evening. Thank you. Yes, yes, "oh that terrible, grouchy old Wudge! Immediately rejecting things like the terrible creature it is!" You, shut up. I do what I want, Thor.

Eternally famed creatures of the night, countless books have been written about their existence. Some of the them, mainly female--with the occasional sprinkle of easily amused male--have formed book clubs just so they could read aloud passages and giggle at either the sheer accuracy (and ridiculosity) of them. Or better yet, they've joined human book clubs!

These are our main players. A vampire isn't considered "Old" until he hits his one hundred fifties or one hundred eighties, and the old ones are creatures to be feared. They sure as hell look old, albeit not as old as they really are. There is an inverse correlation between youth/appearance and power; you will have to choose between the two. Yet, becoming a vampire is strangely like becoming a child again. The physical and mental capabilities, such as the majority of one's senses and memory, are heightened, and this increases with age.

Yes, they need blood to survive; yes, they can last a certain amount of time particular to each vampire without feeding (someone who was a druggie would have less tolerance to blood starvation, for example). Each vampire's method of procuring their food is up to personal preference, but few seem to know that vampires can feed off of one another. Totally! Particularly yummy if you go for a vampire who just ate a yummy human. Some vampires view this as morally reprehensible, but there is no Almighty Vampire Police. In this world, if you have a problem with another fang face, you deal with them... and several vampires do precisely that, gaining themselves and their race a reputation of being vicious, prideful creatures.

Blood is, naturally, very distracting. You know that stupid ADD archetype that's always distracted by shiny objects and just need to pick the damned shinies up and smother them, put them in your mouth? Yep! That's you, vampires! :D Shiny, shiny blood... Mmmm.

Now to tackle the myths. Stake to the heart? Cutting off the head and stuffing it with garlic? Works. I mean, jeezus, you could probably kill an archangel with that shit, you sadistic little bastard. Vampires are ONLY immune from death via old age and from disease (poisons included, much to the irritation of many witches). Otherwise, they are fair game. As for sunlight, hyup, that works too: Though older vampires are able to stand in the sun for longer periods of time than newborns, they will eventually become ash when their bare skin is exposed... just very slowly... and very painfully. After a certain point, sunlight renders a vampire an immobile, screeching, tormented creature as they are literally scorched into nothing, bit by bit. Not a favorite suicide method. What did YOU think those fancy capes and cowls were for? Ancient Scandinavian fashion shows? (Look for "that mirror thing" for more on myths.)

A vampire tends to specialize in one specific trait: be it speed, strength, lightness of foot (jumping vampire! 8D Nope, you cannot fly), depth of bite, etc, depending on how much they practice.

"Fullblood"s are vampires born from the union of a vampire couple, or from a turned pregnant woman--on an individual basis. Of the vampires, The thing to know about them is that they have GREAT difficulty relating to and blending in with humans, but are more far adept with their vampiric abilities than traditional newborns.

Newborns are, naturally, the opposite. Seeing as two of our returnees are fullbloods, new vampires will have to be of the traditional sort. Sorry!

(1-2 slots open!)

Our greatest strength as a human race is our ability to acknowledge our differences, our greatest weakness is our failure to embrace them.

-Judith Henderson

What is there to say? You've seen all those alien flicks. "Puny humans" indeed... until the large-forehead blue one gets a bullet between the eyes. Ba-bayum! Humans are the most flexible, conventional, and able to work with what they've got. How else would they have such a large, thriving population despite having such a brief lifespan? Many have grown into lazy and fat lard-lards, but there are some who have not forgotten, who have had stories passed onto them from their grandparents whose grandparent's grandparent's great great grandparental monster hunters once fought terrible abysmal creatures.

It is these sorts of people that keep the supernatural on guard and wary; keep them unable to enter the daylight (or nightlight, for those losers already averse to sunshine). Most likely to have been hired for this roleplay would be hitmen, or some other form of weapons expert. Perhaps a serial killer or retired special agent. So you won't be playing, say... a pizza boy. Unless the pizza boy has a really damned shady past and is only gofering pizzas for the quick cash. Just because you're human DOES NOT mean you are easy to kill. However, you can change into another race over the course of the roleplay (but not without contacting me first). You know chess, don't you? What happens when you use those pawns wisely? Hrm? Hrm? Answer my patronizing question, c'mon.

Also, humans are the most subject to possession. (Here fits a sub-race of shades, evil specters, demons, etc. Yes, I give you free reign and permit you to roleplay it and completely come up with all the details, but you will talk to me about it IN DEPTH. Keep in mind that a possessed human will most likely DIE after a short while, though the parasite can find another host (i.e. you app "another" character)... and you won't get to change into any of the other races. Ever. No exceptions.)

For all you know, a witch might be living next door to you right now. Or she might be the woman with the bright eyes who sat opposite you on the bus this morning. She might be the lady with the dazzling smile who offered you a sweet from a white paper bag in the street before lunch. She might even ? and this will make you jump ? she might even be your lovely school-teacher who is reading these words to you at this very moment.

-Roald Dahl

WITCH, n. (1) Any ugly and repulsive old woman, in a wicked league with the devil.
(2) A beautiful and attractive young woman, in wickedness a league beyond the devil.

-Ambrose Bierce

The least predictable of all, even to their future-seeing kinsmen. Anyone (male and female, for the record) can become a witch, some are just better at growing themselves than others; leagues better. The process of becoming a witch seems to be different for everyone, and many will claim it was triggered by some sort of event. It wasn't. They just happened to remember exactly where they were and what happened because magic shit was going down, and they didn't want to admit it was their fault.

This "birth" of a witch tends to be unpleasant, often leading to a need for secrecy concerning their new gifts. The powers of a witch seem to be as numerous as there are insects in the world, and no witch will ever be able to come anywhere near mastering them all. Hell, they have trouble mastering what they're born with, usually. It's not true that no two witches have the same power, merely that they are in possession of both lady luck's feet if they manage to find one another; which is why a witching school has never been (successfully) founded.

So, it's a pretty lonesome journey, trying to be a good witch. There's little mentors can do, outside helping you regulate your breathing. Each witch has a singular, small realm of expertise to start out being fairly masterful with, say for example, mesmerization. They seek a means to channel this gift, and find it works best through song. As the witch grows, she realizes she is more powerful near lakes, and begins to be able to change her shape, grow sharper teeth. Duh-duh-duh, we have a mythological sea creature woman!

Many witches believe their diet controls how their powers will grow, and have experimented... extensively, from cheerios to sheep skin to sheep's wool. Hey, some of them get desperate, all right? If there is one thing near every proper witch can admit to loving, it is experimenting. A witch never be powerful without a strong sense of curiosity and willingness to try new ideas. (See: "Fetish.")

A great number of witches share another thing in common: calling on animals. Each witch tends to have a specific specimen she is most comfortable calling on, usually a common wild animal that travels in groups. This is the main spark that caused the witch trials of old, the hangings and swimmings and burnings. As if able to recall these past horrendous events, many witches are afraid of losing their breath, water, fire, or a combination of the aforementioned. Just because not many actual witches died in the trials doesn't mean it wasn't scary.

Much like how being undead ails vampires, witchcraft takes its toll on a witch's appearance, but in an entirely different manner. While a vampire will merely seem a particularly spry senior citizen (if he is good at being a vampire and not a lardass), a witch will completely lose the ability to blend into a crowd. Their skin becomes taut and unable to bear fat, and their bodies lose color--something known as the Fade. Their teeth and nails turn yellow and they tend to lose their eyesight, or at least become color blind. Some witches will be as pale as chalk with hair whiter than skulls; often these sorts had spent their lives perfecting foul magic like hexes and poisons. Some witches used their power for good, such as by creating charms and healing the less fortunate; often their skin, eyes and hair will be without shine, far darker than a moonless night. A notable witch hunter once suspected the latter defied the fine print of their Contract with the devil ("Rule seventy-two: Be eeeevil!"), and thus were banished to become one with the shadows. These witches may appear as youthful as they are, but are unable to wander freely in public... for the most part.

Both the magic and the Fade can begin to take them at any age or moment--but don't worry, the Fade only occurs after about twenty years of actively practicing magic. While there is the general pattern of black witches being Good and white witches being Evil, witchcraft is not entirely unlike grammar. There are always exceptions to every rule, except that one.

Never moon a werewolf.

-Mike Binder

Oh buddy, the years have not been kind to your kind. Generally wild and ruthless creatures that they are, werewolves have had extremely little success in adapting to the changing world. You know, what with the development of machine guns, sniper pilots, bombs and other animal extermination devices.

Quirks include the greatest level of strength known to living creatures, allowing you to give a tank an "OH SHIT!" dent if you managed to be sneaky enough to get near one. Another lovely gift from your predecessors is supreme self-control, allowing you to convert your fanatic cravings for ripping flesh into pacing, and perhaps a single player game of checkers if you're especially lucky. Each werewolf tends to have his or her own unique style of keeping themselves occupied on a full moon, usually a favorite hobby. A strange one. One other people won't try to join in on. They have a word for it.

More quirks? Enhanced smell! Usually a bad thing, actually. There's also rapid hair growth. Um. There's also the easily developed muscles!! Leading to a couple of weres to run with their tails behind their legs... into the bodybuilder modeling industry... Oh gad.

Unlike vampires, weres are not provoked by blood, only an strong urge for chaos and wanton destruction. Think of it like having a boner; no godawful pun intended. Many keep their rooms as messy as possible for utmost comfort, some going as far as having a sort of reverse OCD. Werewolves tend to stay well away from one another, often to the point where there are only four to six in a country at a given time. Yes, my friend: you are going extinct. Of course, this is a good thing, right...?

(Anything not covered (which is prolly a lot) is up for speculation by the roleplayer. Lucky bastard will get to be the only playable wolf in this entire thingabob, after all! Intensive discussions with the GM required if you want this role, and I expect you to run with as many ideas as you can. Your OC may suspect he was only recruited "for the lulz.")

[III B.] Your app: a.k.a. how to impress the nitpicky Wudgles (which is not impossible, contrary to popular belief).

Righto, now for the part you actually care about! Or the part you should care about. Prettying up your character sheet, and things you might want to know before you send something in!

[&&&&Might have an updated version up soon. The link I've got is a decent substitute for now, but keep refreshing!]
And perhaps totally unrelated, but feel free to run off and invite people you think are cool! I like meeting good roleplayers. c:

Here's an example of a filled skeleton, by yours truly. Not my best work, but there you go. As you can see, I made a few aesthetic changes to the sheet--you can, too! That's totally kosher. So long as you don't take anything away, you can add whatever you want to it. :D Have fun!

[IV.] Final Thoughts

  1. REMEMBER TO PM ME YOUR PROFILE FOR APPROVAL! DO NOT SUBMIT IT INTO THE TAB UNTIL I GIVE YOU THE A-OKAY!

  • Don't forget the race-specific skeleton! :)
  • This RP is potentially rated M (for cursing and disturbing material and whatnot)! Nothing against site rules, sure, but y'knowww. Fair warning.
  • If you can't tell from the icon, there's going to be a decent amount of goofiness up in here. While we won't wander into the realm of cracktivity, you're better off coming in without taking yourself too seriously, and with a willingness to humor others. If you must, must have roleplays where every little detail is factual and wikipedia-approved and srs bsns, go awaaaayyy! We're going to be playing with vampires here, for Christ's sake. You may as well apply physics to dragons and unicorns.
  • That said, it's good to have a basis in logic when working with posts and profiles. Why would it make sense for your character to do what she's doing? Start with a solid base, build on top of it.
  • If you have even a sliver of a chance of getting in, you'll receive a critique on how to improve your profile (thus, a crit is a good sign)! Otherwise... I'm sorry, but this just isn't the roleplay for you. It's an advanced rp, gents, which means rejections happen. I can make recommendations to other rps if you like, though; just ask. <3
  • Ehhh, I'm going to be more lenient this time around, since I never really enforce any sort of "YOU'VE BEEN INACTIVE, YOUR CHARACTER DED NOW!!!" rule anyway. So, no post deadline. This means you faster posters will need to possess the little known art of ~PATIENCE~. <3 We're still witcha, don't worry! Encourage talk in the OOC before you deem the rp dead and/or move along, a'ighty?
  • On the other hand, I would REALLY appreciate it if you'd just talk to us when things come up, yeah? I don't care if you haven't posted for ten years, you can still stick around and chatter in the OOC (and tell me that you still love me and aren't seeing another woman); I can't get mad, then. Hell, just vaguely mentioning you might be gone will help me plan around your character's silence. Better than up and vanishing. :'c
  • And if you're having trouble getting a post together, or trouble with the character sheet, or goshdarned anything: pshhh, you can talk to me about that, too. I love slinging ideas like monkeys love slinging poop, man, have at me. Plus, it's always nice to hear from you people. <3
  • If you're good enough to get in, you're good enough to know the vile roleplaying sins--godmoding, powerplaying, one-liners, blaaah blah, whatever. But the one thing I see fit to warn against is this: Ignoring IC actions from other characters/NPCs.
Oh my god your ass will be booted out of here so fucking fast. Don't do it. I'll find time to elaborate on this in one of the OOC threads.&&
  • Let's talk about some fancy returnees! You may have noticed that some links lead to an older version of the same roleplay, yes? Well, this roleplay takes place half a year after the previous one, so any returning OCs will have a bit of experience under their belt as an unashamed reward for coming back to my aching arms. HELLOOO, RETURNEES, HOW ARE YOU? I love you a lot. (You guys can just copy paste your old profiles if you so wish, no need to use the new skelly).
These kids (Sable Lavante and Balthazar Shirazi, so far) know what's up. They've completed a number of missions, they've gotten continued payment and love and reward from Abe.

So, Balthazar has been getting information about his missing mother, little by little.

Meanwhile, Sable..... Sable, did you even want anything...? Your parents' approval, I guess? Well, you get some of that little by little, too. Plus your own money to gamble away or what have you. Why not.

(You guys will love these two, they're kind of eternal awesome sauce).
